A Waxy Undersea adventure

No school for a week during a local holiday leads to the NEED to get out of the house!

My Kitchen-Aid needed to be taken to the repair shop so we headed downtown. After we dropped it off we headed down to Siam Paragon Mall basement to Siam Ocean World.
They were offering an unbeatable deal for expats/locals where we could get tickets for the aquarium AND Madam Tussaud's for less than the price of the regular admission to the aquarium. The only drawback to this was the kids being charged as adults because they were over the height limit for kids. Darn non-asian short kids! It was still cheaper than the regular price though.

We hit Siam Ocean World first.

 

 

 

When we had enough of the fish we headed down the street to Madam Tussaud's. It's always such a joy to travel with 4 kids constantly nagging "How much further?" or "Are we there yet?" even though the trek was a mere 2 blocks away, quite close in Thai terms.
So off to see some wax we went...

As usual in Thailand, everything starts off with an appreciation for the King and Queen.

At the end of the museum you see this beautiful lady, Madam Tussaud. There is a "Behind the Scenes" section showing you what goes into creating these magnificent sculptures. Of course, Ellie read everything so she can tell you all about it now.

The last thing you see before exiting into the souvenir shop is a wax station where you can make a wax impression of your hand and even add color to it. We let each of the kids make one.

Danny went first, true to form, to show everyone how easy it was.

We ended the day with a traditional American meal, Outback Steakhouse! Oh Yeah!
The only drawback to this plan was that I wasn't hungry enough to eat a steak, which I really wanted!
It was still great to have something familiar, even if the onion wasn't "bloomin".
