So we found a new church, closer to us, that we want to try today but
the service doesn't start until 5:15pm so we had the whole day to fill.
I have been wanting to go down and check out the
Chatuchak Weekend Market not far from here and managed to convince Ben to take me. The
kids, on the other hand, were not so easy to convince. We had to bribe
them with a visit to the Children's Discovery Museum right next door
before they reluctantly came along.
It was an adventurous drive
there although not that far from home. Ben is not the best navigator and
since we exchanged words a few days back while driving to IKEA and
getting a little off track he doesn't ask for my help anymore, but I
still offer. After a few U-Turns we found parking and made our way into
the market. Here is some of what we saw...
| Dishes galore... |
| ...fabric and ribbon... |
| ...crowds... |
| ...sting rays... |
| ...fish... |
| ...turtles... |
| ...this awesome guy... |
| ...bubbles... |
| ...traffic... |
| ...flowers in the park... |
| ...a big, unreadable map... |
| Benny bargaining for a fan. |
| ...popsicles... |
We finally made it across the street to the Children's Discovery Museum only to learn that it was closed for some reason or another.
The kids were disappointed but only for about 5 seconds because they were tired from walking the market. I promise this was purely by accident. I really did want to take them to the museum, promise.
They were fine with playing at the playground instead.
It turned out to be a great Sunday all around. We stopped at one of our favorite stores on the way home from the market and ended up getting 2 new bicycles (roughly $30 and $50 each). We attended the evening English service at the new church and loved it. Signed the kids up for Religious Education and had a fun buffet dinner at the mall before heading home just after bedtime.
