Well, with Boy Scouts comes the ever popular Pinewood Derby race. Our Pack race is in 2 weeks and with Ben out of the country for 2 weeks it is up to me to get 4 cars done for this race. Oh my!
I was worried until this week when I got an email from our scoutmaster. He was having a Pinewood Derby Clinic at his home with tips and tricks for making a faster car. He was also going to have the appropriate tools needed to cut the cars out of the block of wood to give it shape. This was the most exciting to me since we have no such tools and didn't think to take them to Jacksonville a few weeks ago to use Grandpa's tools. I was so excited for the clinic to come.
A few days later I got another email regarding our weekly Tiger cub meeting. This week it was to be at one of the other scout's home and their neighbor had offered to cut out the scout's cars for them. AWESOME!
So Thursday afternoon I sat for a few hours looking for templates of different shapes for the cars. The kids picked out which ones they wanted and we drew them onto the wood. That night we went to the Tiger cub meeting and all of the kids got their cars cut out. My kids now think that their cars are done and want to put the wheels on it and drive them around.
Friday came and we went to our Scoutmaster's house and learned alot. But their cars are NO where near finished yet. Hopefully Daddy can help out on the ONE day he will be home before the Derby.
