Ellie's class went on a field trip this past Monday. The plan was for them to take a barge up the river and learn about the ecosystem on the first day, spend the night in a Wat (temple) and then spend their second day learning about Ayutthaya, the old capital of Thailand.
Ellie and I had just gotten home from a fun weekend of camping with the Girl Scouts. Being tired from that coupled with the onset of a cold, she was not too excited about heading out Monday morning when I dropped her off. I made sure the nurse had her Sudafed and Motrin to keep her going throughout the trip before sending her off. She sat in the very back of the bus by herself, as to keep her germs away from others. How thoughtful.
The teachers sent emails periodically throughout the day to keep us parents up to date on how things were going. They were all positive, of course. I had settled down and was looking forward to a night with just me and the boys, which doesn't happen often. At 5:30pm the phone rang. It was the ever competent school nurse telling me that Ellie had made it through the day with the help of the meds I sent but was still not feeling well, and they were considering sending her home with the Principal (who drove up with the Vice Principal to check on everyone) because she had a fever of...wait for it...100.8f! Seriously, where did these people go to school? 100.8? Whatever. About an hour later, her teacher called and confirmed they were definitely sending her home because of the fever and she should be home in about an hour. So much for the Mommy-Boys fun night. At least Ellie would be home where she could relax and feel better. I knew she wasn't as sick as they think she is but that she was working her groggy, moping magic to convince them and that she would be completely fine.

She got home and as soon as she stepped in the door, away from the Principal, she was fine! I knew it! I was ok with that though. I kept her home the next day just in case, and because her class was still out on the field trip. It was such a rough day for her, playing XBOX and having McDonald's for lunch. I don't know how she made it through. ;)
So here are some of the pictures she took with the camera I sent with her.
Very interesting the things she took pictures of.

| Studying a Water Hyacinth |
